The cruise

Carried by the wind, surrounded by nature and the Atlantic islands, come and discover the joy of writing your own lyrics.
With the guidance of an experienced singer-songwriter, you will be able to disembark carrying your own lyrics... as well as some tips on good writing technique.

Do you enjoy sailing, would you like to discover the French Atlantic islands and have a passion or a gift for song writing?
This song writing sailing cruise is definitely designed for you...

Climb on board with our two specialists: Marco, an experienced skipper, and Damien, a seasoned singer-songwriter. Discover the beauty of the French Atlantic islands and learn (or practice) how to put your feelings and emotions into words. If you are a musician you can put your words to music, following the advice of a professional musician, and return home with your very own songs, inspired by your time at sea!

Your possible stops during this cruise

Departing from La Rochelle offers you lots of different routes and mooring places, including the beautiful islands of Ré, Oléron, Houat, Hoëdic, Belle-Ile or d'Yeu and bodies of water far from the swell of the open sea, so you can navigate in all types of weather.

Each day will be a mix of learning to sail, for those interested, and learning writing techniques to stretch your imagination through contact with the elements and scenery, plus putting the words to music for any musicians.

The morning:
After breakfast on board, you will set sail for your first island. Once the manoeuvres are finished, the sails trimmed and the coastlines far behind, there will be 2 hours of dedicated writing time, with practice exercises and practical application, depending on weather conditions, the kind of landscapes encountered and Damien's mood.

Meal on board or at a mooring: discover local delicacies and try tasting oysters or shellfish.

The afternoon:
From 2.00 to 3.30:
If you are moored up, the skipper and Damien will take you a building ashore to write a piece on a specific theme.
If you are at sea, the session will take place on the boat.
From 3.30 to 4 :30:
Time to 'Hand in' your work and get one-on-one advice on improving your piece from Damien.
From 4.30 onwards:
Rest your body and calm your mind, with sailing for those interested.
Any musicians will have the opportunity to put their text to music, alone, in pairs or in a workshop, under Damien's watchful eye.

The evening:
Arrival at port or anchorage, sailing manoeuvres
Drinks and readings: each passenger reads (or sings, for any musicians) their lyrics in a friendly, welcoming environment.
Meal on board
In the evenings, you will have the chance to go into the town centres and sample the lively local nightlife.

The final night of the cruise:
Once arrived at the port and all the manoeuvres finished, the work completed during the course of the trip will be read (or sung) accompanied by drinks in a friendly party atmosphere.
