Sail away with Gary
Embark with Gary, a professional skipper and sporty at heart, he offers both relaxation and sporty cruises with day boat and surfing trips as well as physical training.
What is your motto ?
Pleasure and friendliness!
Your sailing style ?
Everything! From sporting sailing, also from relaxing cruises, even with new-borns!
We go out at all times, except in the event of a storm!
Sailing with many detours, why not stop for a quick surf or go for a dip?
I also do cruises bachelor and bachelorette parties.
On most cruises you get to see dolphins! I have the best tips to observe these marine mammals.
I've been sailing with my dog since she was very young. It's as if she's the boat's mascot, and everyone is worried if she is not there to board.
How do you handle the life on board ?I explain, the crew participates if they want to
How does shopping work?I can stock up on supplies before departure, or the crew can do it, it is up to them.
How does cooking work?Everybody helps cooks
How did you become skipper ?
I started out as a lifeguard and then I specialised in sports management in the skiing sector. Passionate about windsurfing, I passed a State certificate sailing exam and I then became leader of a sailing school in Hossegor. Adventurer at heart, I passed my captaincy exams so I could travel around the world in a sailboat. Currently, my activity is varied: coach sailing, skipper, trainer, examiner and boating and sailing consultant.
What people say about you?
When I being people out for sailing courses, I am often told that I am patient._x000D_
They like that even though I've done so much sailing, I really struggle to start the engine! Even if it takes longer to do a thousand miles, the pleasure is not the same._x000D_
People also appreciate the freedom I give to them on the sailboat. Everyone really feels comfortable.
Your best cruise memory
The galleys, the magnificent landscapes that I saw when sailing ... For example natural landscapes, stormy seas ... I love to observe ..
Also human encounters. I've really met some incredible people, I could even write a book about these beautiful encounters! "
In your opinion, what makes for a successful cruise ?
When everybody is happy, which often happens :) I have a lot of newbies who come on board for the first time and are delighted to have discovered this new environment.
Your worst cruise memory ?
The galleys too. The dangers, the damage to the sailboat ...
When you're not sailing...
I do a lot of surfing. Also a lot of mountain sports, including snowboarding and mountaineering, Everywhere.
