What is your motto ?
I'm a ferryman. On a boat, every trip is a story, and I like to tell a story to my crew, to help them have an unforgettable time.
Your sailing style ?
I like that people feel at home quickly. The important thing is safety first of all, that they can feel supported and confident. To do this, I have a second professional sailor to assist me. Then, little by little, I explain to the rest of the crew the few manoeuvres and manipulations that can be made, so that everyone can learn the basics of the boat, and understand the spirit of sailing. I like to share my know-how, and see a crew evolve and have more and more fun aboard my boat. In general, I prefer to stop at anchorages rather than in ports. This is where we have the best time, and the crew brings back the best memories with them from here. Of course, I also offer cruises in turn, where the crew can relax in peace and rely on two professional sailors. I also like the themed cruises. The boat is large enough to accommodate other disciplines, cultural or other. For example, we have already welcomed aboard an art teacher and their pupils, and at each anchorage they were given a painting class on the beach! I am open to any proposal of this type, I find that this is what pleases people more and more, combining the pleasure of sailing and another passion.
How do you handle the life on board ?I explain, the crew participates in sailing manœuvres
How does shopping work?I can stock up on supplies before departure, or the crew can do it, it is up to them.
How does cooking work?Everybody helps cooks
How did you become skipper ?
I have been in the marine environment since I was a kid. When I was on vacation, I helped my father to fish by pulling in nets and cages. Then I passed my maritime exam, and embarked a year aboard a trawler. But I quickly changed direction toward sailing, and it is now nearly 30 years since I've been sailing on the seas and oceans around the whole world. My favourite playground, the seas of the north: the Channel Islands, England and even further north, Norway!
What people say about you?
People like being on board. My boat brings them all the comfort and space needed, and my experience brings them all the safety they would expect. And in general, as we talk a lot and have a lot of laughs. I find it all rather nice!
Your best cruise memory
I have hundreds, it's hard to choose! I have wonderful memories of cruising in the north, amid walruses and polar bears!
In your opinion, what makes for a successful cruise ?
When everyone comes back raving about what they had just done! I love when a cruise is an unforgettable adventure every time!
Your worst cruise memory ?
I don't think I have any. Even if some situations proved to be difficult, they soon became good memories, and I smile when thinking about them!
