What is your motto ?
Always think carefully before getting started. That's true for sailing but also for life too.
Your sailing style ?
I like to sail peacefully, if possible in beautiful weather, and for fun! I allow people to participate, but it is rare to meet people who know how to sail well, I explain how to do it to them and I let them participate in the manoeuvres, and to the bar to teach them the basics, that it makes them want to come back or sail again elsewhere.
How do you handle the life on board ?I explain, the crew participates in sailing manœuvres
How does shopping work?I take care of supply on board
How does cooking work?I cook
How did you become skipper ?
When I was a kid, my uncle was the director of a sailing school, so I made . I practiced sailing an Optimist. Then I had sailboats for pleasure. I spent a lot of time on deck chairs. Then I moved for professional reasons. I worked in the field of metal construction, especially in Africa. So I swapped the sailboat for a motorbike, and I rode around in the desert. Then I went to Guyana and I had enough money to buy my own boat. So I decided to make it my job, I passed my professional skipper diploma and I set up my own company, almost 20 years ago.
What people say about you?
People say that I am a good sailor, they feel safe at my side, and also that I cook well. Which all sounds good since these are the qualities I provide for my clients!
Your best cruise memory
I have no best cruise memories in particular. In fact my best memories come from trips where people were friendly, everything went well, it was beautiful! which happens quite often in the Caribbean! ;)
In your opinion, what makes for a successful cruise ?
A successful cruise for me is when everyone is happy, and everything goes very well.
Your worst cruise memory ?
It was in Ireland, there was very bad weather. The rudder of the boat broke, I managed to bring it back with difficulty, but it was quite complicated, and I do not have a very good memory of it. As a result, I am always very careful when sailing.
