- Fort Boyard is an iconic maritime fortress located between the island of Oleron and the coast of Charente-Maritime, France. Built in the 19th century for coastal defense, it is now famous for the TV show of the same name. You can take boat trips to admire it from the sea, but visits inside are not possible. The fort is a must-see for tourists to Charente-Maritime.
-Ile d'Aix, off the coast of Charente-Maritime, is a small, peaceful, car-free island, ideal for a relaxing vacation. Known for its natural beauty and history linked to Napoleon Bonaparte, it can be visited by ferry from La Rochelle or Fouras. You can explore the island on foot or by bike, enjoy its beaches and sample fresh seafood in local restaurants.
