Embark on a beginner's cruising course on the Basque coast!
Here's what you'll learn on the course and a sample itinerary for your stay.
Course objectives :
- Level 1 (Introduction to Cruising): Learn the basics of cruising, including reading charts, using on-board instruments, and basic maneuvers. You'll be introduced to the safety rules essential for confident cruising.
- Level 2 (Advanced Skills): Perfect your navigation and maneuvering skills. This level will enable you to deepen your knowledge of navigation techniques, sail management and cruise planning, accompanied by your instructor.
Sample itinerary
The itinerary is subject to weather conditions, your wishes and those of your skipper. The itinerary below is therefore only an example.
Day 1: As soon as you arrive in Hendaye harbor, you'll get to know the team and the yacht, and learn the safety rules and basic maneuvers. You'll enjoy the coastal scenery and gentle sea breeze as you sail towards Hondarribia, a walled town with undeniable charm.
Day 2: You'll set sail for Pasaia, a picturesque village with many facets. You'll have a session to learn the basics of cruising (Level 1). You'll learn how to read charts, use on-board instruments and perform basic maneuvers.
Day 3: Sailing to San Sebastián. You'll apply the navigation techniques you learned the day before and perfect your maneuvering skills. Afterwards, you can lose yourself in the narrow streets of the old town (Parte Vieja), indulging in the delights of the pintxo bars.
Day 4: You'll sail to Getaria, continuing to perfect your navigation skills. You'll admire the Gothic architecture of the San Salvador church, a true architectural gem. Then the wind will propel you towards Zumaia, admiring the coastal scenery and impressive cliffs.
Day 5: Return to Hendaye. You'll put into practice the navigation techniques you've learned, and perfect your sail management and cruise planning skills.
A smooth return after a week rich in discovery, with disembarkation scheduled for around 17:00.
