Your cruise
Deep-sea cruise to Scotland aboard a 21-meter sailboat with crew. Launched in 2020 and due to the satisfaction of our clients, we are renewing this program but with a slightly longer format to fully enjoy the destination and the ports of call, without forgetting the whisky route!
For your information: This course does not lead to a diploma. However, it is in adequacy with the FFV license. Thus, it offers you the opportunity to accumulate nautical miles in your logbook.
Your possible stops during this cruise
please note that the itinerary will depend on the weather conditions, your wishes and those of your skipper. Moreover, and as a reminder, health constraints will be taken into account during the stay.
This offshore course in Scotland starting from Lorient takes place over 18 days. It combines the open sea and the discovery of islands and less frequented destinations. You will meet at 8:00 am in the port of Lorient. You will cross on your way islands with a perfume of authenticity and nature in the wild state, such as Islay, Jura, or Mull. These islands share with our home land, a common point: They are Celtic. The sailing area is varied, adapted to our Challenge 67, the old boats of the round the world crew against the prevailing winds. Whether in the Celtic Sea, the Irish Sea, or the St. George Channel... the open sea awaits you!
Approximately 750 nautical miles, or nearly 120 hours of sailing and unforgettable adventure separate Lorient from the West of Scotland. For this first part, perhaps you will sail directly to the Fastnet? Or, depending on the weather conditions, you will pass by the Fromveur islands, or towards the Scilly islands to moor
The first few days will allow you to learn the techniques of navigation. Taking into account the weather conditions and forecasts is an important factor. Throughout your embarkation, they will condition your choice of route, whether it is for the passage between Ireland and England, or for the "descent" from Scotland via the St. George Canal.in the same way, stopovers and anchorages in the islands of Islay, Jura or Mull will be discussed with the crew, under the authority of the Captain (Chief of the boat). Who knows, maybe you will feel like living the Islay Festival for a weekend... "Come for the whisky, return for the island" say its inhabitants
Supervised by 2 professional sailors, qualified Captain 200 Sail and State Certificate, each crew member actively participates in the smooth running of the boat and in the life on board. At sea, the navigation is in 24/24 mode. The organization of the boat is organized in watches or tacks. You will therefore be subject to navigation watches, approximately 8 hours per 24 hours, but also to stewardship watches, cooking, washing up, weather... No pilot, nor reefers on board our boats. This is, in fact, one of the best ways to learn about offshore sailing.
The skipper
Take the sea and discover what sailing is all about thanks to a crew fully available for you. Julia and Goulwen are here to share their passion and their knowledge with you!
A sailboat shouldn't depend on a single anchor as a life shouldn't depend on a single hope.

Great destination, Scotland at the beginning of the summer on a powerful and fast boat with a great crew and a very competent skipper and his second in command, nice, pedagogical and able to create a real team. Good level sailing and discovery cruise in places not often visited by the average sailor. Beautiful navigation, beautiful stages, the Scottish islands are worth the detour... Be careful, the nights are cool...and sometimes wet...and agitated...
