Let the wind take you on a coastal training course in the Mer d'Iroise
Here are the maritime skills covered:
- Observing the environment, tides, weather and forecasting their evolution.
- Relate the landscape to the map and know where you stand.
- Discover and recognize a few species of marine flora and fauna.
The following technical skills will be used:
-Get to grips with the engine, and take part in departure and arrival maneuvers at each station
- Refine sensory cues corresponding to different points of sail.
- Adjust trajectory to sail trim and set sails according to course.
- Maneuver at each station in coordination with the rest of the crew.
- Perform sail changes, reefing, sailing and spinnaker maneuvers.
- Perform routine safety maneuvers: VHF call, man overboard.
Develop your sense of seamanship:
-Feel at ease with marine vocabulary.
- Communicate your intentions to the rest of the crew during maneuvers.
- Ensure individual and collective well-being.
Cast off from Brest, Brittany, and sail through the rich biodiversity of the Iroise Sea, between the islands of Sein, Molène and Ouessant. All this while respecting four fundamental values: Marine Citizenship; Solidarity; Listening; Exploration. With Camille's help, learn the fundamental maneuvers of a good sailor!
by the end of the course, you'll know how to get to and from the pontoon at every station! You'll sail as part of a crew, and feel at ease at all points of sail. You'll experiment with all kinds of maneuvers, and leave with safety management routines.
