Your cruise
Climb on board at Cherbourg and set sail across the English Channel towards the Isle of Wight! With its thatched roofs and chalk cliffs, the Isle of Wight is a charming little island. A top tourist spot, this island is best known for its music festivals and for inspiring a number of musicians, including Michel Delpech's "Wight is Right".
Your possible stops during this cruise
From Cherbourg, you will cross the English Channel northwards at its narrowest point (65 miles), towards the southern coast of England, to get to the Solent, the stretch of water sheltered by the Isle of Wight.
The Solent is a magnificent body of water overlooked by typical British harbours like Yarmouth, Lymington, and the legendary Cowes. You will also sail up the rural River Beaulieu, then up the River Hamble to get to Southampton, the departure port of transatlantic liners.
Finally, you will discover the unmissable military port of Portsmouth, and its excellent maritime museum which houses Admiral Nelson's Victory, made famous at Trafalgar (worth visiting).
In short, you will be spoilt for choice on this cruise! The east to west orientation of the Solent means you will enjoy navigating at all speeds, sailing upwind and downwind. The bays of Poole and Chichester, within reach of the Solent, are further optional destinations, depending on weather conditions.
The skipper
Initially a computer scientist, Gérard fell in love with sailing 20 years ago and has never left it.
He will share his passion for sailing with you on the one hand and his region on the other hand, from Cotentin, to the Channel Islands and to England.
Naviguer en voilier, c'est un retour aux vraies valeurs et c'est aussi l'occasion de se retrouver soi-même.
