Set sail for an extraordinary adventure at the other end of the world on your Antarctic Sailing Expedition from Ushuaïa!
Rendezvous in the evening at the initial port of Ushuaïa (time to be confirmed with the skipper). Meet the crew and passengers with whom you'll be living the adventure of a lifetime. Visit the yacht, settle in on board and follow the life and safety briefing. You'll then spend your first night on the water after a meal on board. The next morning, you're off on a 26-day sailing expedition...
Explore the Antarctic Peninsula; Take part in the navigation amidst extraordinary scenery; Observe wild species such as whales, orcas, penguins and sea lions; Respect the nature that surrounds you and enjoy your trip as it should be. But first you'll have to reach the White Continent via a 500-mile ocean crossing. The Drake Passage links Cape Horn in Patagonia to the Antarctic Peninsula. A mythical place for all the world's greatest sailors, and you'll be on that list from now on!
DAY 1: The Beagle
after completing the formalities for leaving Argentina, you'll set sail for the first time, heading south on the Beagle. This canal marks part of the border between Argentina and Chile. This is the moment to sail on the water and capture the first moments of life in this timeless world.
DAY 2 to 4: Drake Passage
Depart for the Antarctic Peninsula, and sail for four days through the mythical Drake Passage. Please note that departure will only take place if the weather window allows it, and may be postponed if the crew deems the expedition too risky. This is for your own safety.
DAY 5 to 21: The Antarctic Peninsula
Live the experience of a lifetime, sailing to and from anchorages in the heart of the Antarctic Peninsula. Enjoy shore excursions to observe the wildlife living in this haven of peace. From whales swimming in the immensity of the ocean to sea leopards lolling on the glaciers, these extraordinary sights will leave an indelible mark on your adventure. Time permitting, you'll also have the opportunity to discover more remote areas by dinghy, where you'll be truly immersed in a world where space-time seems to stand still. Depending on ice conditions, discover Entreprise, Cuverville, Videla and Paradise bays, Port Lockroy, Lemaire Channel, Plenneau, Palmer, Vernadsky and Melchior.
DAY 22 to 26: Return to Ushuaïa
It's time to set sail again for the return trip. Relive the Drake Passage experience, but this time with fabulous memories and images of the Antarctic Peninsula. A bonus for the return trip is the famous Cape Horn crossing under sail! Disembarkation scheduled in Ushuaïa. Time to thank the crew for this adventure, to say goodbye to all those who have accompanied you during these 26 days at sea. And to leave proud of your adventure on the other side of the world.
to know: With the exception of the Drake Passage, we'll be at anchor every evening, with stopovers depending on ice conditions at Entreprise, Cuverville, Videla and Paradise bays, Port Lockroy, Lemaire Channel, Plenneau, Palmer, Vernadsky and Melchior.
A reminder: You don't have to be a great athlete to take part in all the courses, but you do need to be in good physical condition. Each crew member must be able to get in and out of the zodiac unaided, walk for a few hours over unmarked terrain, climb a 300-meter difference in altitude and be adaptable to the climatic conditions of the Deep South.
For information: On board the sailboat, you'll be active in terms of navigation and life on board (especially in the galley). A first experience at sea is not necessarily compulsory, but is recommended. The crew on board will accompany you (3 crew members: a skipper + a mate + a cook)
