Your possible stops during this cruise
Here's an overview of the program for your independent sailing course on a sailboat in Brittany!
It can be modified according to weather conditions.
Your itinerary :
Your skipper will meet you at 9:00 am at the port of Larmor Baden to board the sailboat. Once you've settled aboard, you'll be given a life and safety briefing before setting sail for a 2 to 6-day sailing course.
In 2 to 4 days, you can discover Southern Brittany and stop off at :
- Houat, en route to the island of Houat, you'll be guided to learn or perfect your sailing techniques: sail trimming, tacking maneuvers, chart reading. Once you've arrived, you'll discover this wild little island with its fine sandy beaches.
- Set sail for Hœdic, gain confidence in your maneuvers and perfect your technique to make the most of the changing winds. Once in Hœdic, you can explore this peaceful island, with its wild beaches and authentic landscapes.
- Belle-Ile, discover the mythical Belle-Ile-en-Mer. As you sail along, don't hesitate to ask your skipper any questions you may have, to build up your confidence.
- In Groix, continue to hone your navigation skills before reaching the island of Groix, known for its geological wealth and white sandy beaches. Particularly the Grands Sables, one of the few convex beaches in Europe, whose shape changes with the currents!
In 5 to 6 days, you can discover the Mer d'Iroise and stop off at :
-ouessant, France's most westerly island. This crossing will enable you to perfect your navigation skills, including managing strong currents and using GPS. You'll pass by the famous Jument lighthouse, offering spectacular views.
- From Molène, you'll set sail for the Molène archipelago. During this crossing, you'll practice coastal navigation, passing close to the region's emblematic lighthouses. You'll learn how to adjust sails according to wind conditions, and how to use navigation instruments.
- Douarnenez, another opportunity to develop your map-reading, current-management and sail-trimming skills.
- Camaret, continue your skills development on board a live-aboard sailboat. It's an opportunity to review all the skills you've learned, to perfect them and gain the confidence to aim for autonomy at sea.
You'll be back in Larmor Baden harbor by 6:00 pm after 2 to 6 days at sea. During this course, depending on weather conditions and the level of the trainees, you may be required to sail at night.
