Cruise Seychelles : our favorite experiences
Independent only since 1976, the island nation has had a rich history as several peoples have come to explore and colonize these islands. It all began with the discovery of the Seychelles by the Portuguese before the French and English set foot ashore. Even pirates have made the Seychelles their anchor point! It would seem that a loot would still be buried today, somewhere in the archipelago, probably near Mahé, in Bel Ombre... What if you let yourself be tempted by a treasure hunt during your cruise in the Seychelles?
Beyond this loot, Seychelles is home to many other treasures, starting with the landscapes of dreams. While in Mahé we are immersed in the local life of the natives, Praslin delights with its small surrounding islands while an air of eternal holidays bathes in La Digue. Come and discover the treasures of the Seychelles during your cruise with the help of our professional skippers! In addition, they gave us their favourite cruises in this sublime region.
- #1 - The May Valley in Praslin
Heading for one of the most beautiful pearls on the planet: the Valley of May. It is an unforgettable hike during your cruise in the Seychelles, as this tropical forest is breathtaking. Also known as the Garden of Eden, immerse yourself in this abundant vegetation between coconut buttock, soothing waterfalls and the song of birds, for a few hours. This is one of the few areas of the globe that has not been altered by man, so you will follow in the footsteps of our ancestors, before joining your cruise and discovering other jewels of the archipelago. - #2 - Enjoy an octopus curry in the sand
The Seychelles has its own unusual dishes, which you have to taste! Halfway between Creole and Asian flavours, with a hint of European cuisine, the local cuisine is full of flavours and colours, as evidenced by the many spices used. The specialty is zurite curry, a local octopus that is simmered. In the end, it looks like a more spicy bouillabaisse with ginger, lime and coconut milk, not to mention the famous spicy tomato sauce that you can add as you please. Enjoy this dish with your feet in the sand, as Seychelles custom requires - #3 - L'Anse Source d'Argent on the island of La Digue... And the hundreds of other heavenly beaches!
While cruising in the Seychelles, don't miss the famous Anse Source d'Argent, which is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world! The white sand contrasts with the pink granite rocks, the turquoise water and the very luxuriant vegetation. This beach is simply magnificent... But its fame comes at a cost: you will have to share this superb show with other tourists. What if our professional skippers take you to secret beaches during your cruise? It's simple, there are them on all the small islands! During your cruise, you will have the opportunity to discover postcard beaches, almost unknown and only accessible by sailboat. - #4 - Diving on Coco Island
With its translucent water and coral reefs, the Seychelles archipelago is a favourite destination for snorkeling and shallow scuba diving. Coco Island, a small piece of almost uninhabited land, is the very example of this and is worthy of a paradise island for a Robinsonne getaway with its white sandy beaches, adorned with granite and coconut palms. Beneath the surface, the marine national park is home to impressive species such as rays, sharks and countless rainbow-coloured fish swimming among the magnificent corals. - #5 - Wild stopover at Curieuse Island
During your cruise in the Seychelles, stop off at Ile Curieuse to share a walk in an ecosystem with a very rich flora and fauna. Indeed, in addition to sheltering the totem animal of the Seychelles, the giant turtle, the Curieuse Island is also home to the Coco de mer, a unique tree in the world, and a superb mangrove that can be crossed on a footbridge. A day worthy of the greatest adventurers! Open your eyes wide and try to see the rare birds that fly above your heads and count the giant turtles that are part of the landscape. Not far from Praslin, it is an ideal stopover for your cruise in the heart of nature.
Cruise Seychelles : the skippair advices for your trip!
Navigation and cruising in the Seychelles:
Seychelles is located in the Indian Ocean, not far from Madagascar and Kenya, and consists of 115 different islands. Its islands are divided into two groups:
- 43 inland islands located under the Equator with the 3 main islands, Mahé, Praslin and La Digue.
- 72 coral atolls which are the outer islands located south of the archipelago.
You can cruise to the Seychelles all year round thanks to very pleasant weather, the best months are April/May and October/November. However, January is the rainiest month.
A cruise to the Seychelles starts from the island of Mahé, the largest island in the Seychelles, more precisely from Victoria, its capital and it is a discovery of Paradise. Between turquoise water, white sand, coconut palms and granite, the landscapes will take your breath away. You can also dive into this open-air aquarium, a magical moment!
During a Seychelles cruise, you can discover part of these paradisiacal islands such as Praslin Island, La Digue, Coco, Curieuse, Cousin, and Mahé. Enjoy these unique landscapes!
Sailing in the Seychelles is the best idea! Indeed, to visit the different islands you have to take small planes to get from one island to another which makes the visits expensive, moreover the islands being small hotels have very high prices. A sailboat cruise will then offer you the best way to visit this archipelago at a competitive rate.
Cruise on a monohull or catamaran?
- For a cruise in the Seychelles, we recommend a catamaran cruise because the depths are shallow so there are more possibilities of itineraries and easier access to spots and beaches on a catamaran cruise.
