Embark with Gwénaël - Destination Brittany for a sailboat cruise
... Change your outlook...
As a child, I used to spend my holidays in Doëlan at my grandparents' house contemplating the ocean and its passengers. The lighthouse of Groix, which lights up every evening to guide the ships, flashed through the skylight of my attic room and in heavy swells I could hear Brigneau's "cow", howling buoy offshore, in the storm.
Then as a child, one morning I reached the beach of Port Andros on Belle-Isle and I saw a sailboat that had arrived the day before with its crew on board, happy and quiet.
The camera with which I intended to immortalize this moment detached from its strap and exploded on the ground.
The quietness of the crew, my questions about their journey, the call for freedom ... would finally remain in my memory better than any photo. I had taken the picture with my eyes and promised myself to be on the boat one day.
Then there was the sailing school in Brigneau and many others... at the beginning trainee, later instructor ...
Coming from light sailing, fascinated by nature and the landscapes it shapes, I have long been looking for a way to sail far away in autonomy while keeping a boat that is responsive and generous in sensations. I was dreaming of a roving nautical base, and of a light sailing raid.
I learned by working on different sailing areas, to observe a maximum of phenomena: weather, site effect ... Exploring the Atlantic arc from Senegal to Ireland, the Mediterranean, the West Indies ..
Dune massifs, cliffs, volcanic islands and subduction plateaus... Each place bears the imprint of its history in its landscape. And the resulting adaptation of life and populations is at the heart of my interests.
I completed my training with a solid State Sailing Certificate.
Then I realised that I needed a yacht that would combine all these characteristics: the feel and speed of light sailing, with autonomy, crew operations, and a skipper on board for a progressive approach : a Formula 40.
Accessible, creative, pragmatic.
I'm also a climbing and yoga instructor. I'm the father of three children. I like wood. I like instrumental music. I guess you never finish learning.
Life on a journey
The memory that moved me most of all was arriving one evening in Port Andros (on Belle Ile) with my trainees and realizing that it was the place of my childhood holidays whose name I had forgotten.
This place I knew from the land and from where I had promised myself to become a sailor. A surprise, an unconscious wink to the child I had been.
A friendly atmosphere where everyone finds their place in the group. To live unusual moments and find the essential.
User-friendly and adapted. We are looking for the sensations to be effective without compromising the crew's endurance. We integrate everyone, either by maneuvering or by reading the environment and building strategy.
The goal is to enrich each other's experiences and to live nice moments together; to find symbiosis with the elements. Of course for those who want theory, we have knowledge to share, but without forgetting to feel in order to understand. Perception and practice are essential.
