The skipper

Erwann will help you discover the wonders of the Bay of Quiberon and the Gulf of Morbihan.

What is your motto ?

Adventure is in every breath of wind.

How did you come to do this job?

I spent my childhood at the of one of the most beautiful spots in Morbihan, in the heart of the bay of Quiberon, where I first learned to windsurf. I then passed my sailing instructor exam at 18. I trained in shipbuilding in the stronghold of the large offshore multihulls which is Trinité sur Mar. Then I finished my state certificate sailing exam while doing regattas to broaden my horizons, I have also received a merchant marine certificate (Captain 200 sailing exam). Since then, I've been teaching sailing and helping others discover the Breton coast and its islands. I've also skippered 4 winters in the Caribbean.

What people say about you?

I am often told that I am passionate about what I do, that I am patient and good at explaining things.

Life on a journey

Your best memory ?

When you sail in southern Brittany, you have the chance to meet some pretty typical boats. On a week's cruise departing from La Trinité sur mer, we saw the biggest racing trimarans in the world. Then, on the coast of Lorient we found ourselves tacking with three Pen Duicks of Eric Tabarly that were going back to their base. The next day on the way to Port Laforêt, we were on board with the last tuna boat from Groix (Le Biche). And finally the crew had the pleasure of taking photos of a dozen monohulls (18m) from the Vendée Globe Challenge which were coming back after a training session. It was just magical.

For you, what is a successful sea trip?

This is when the crew arrives to find their bearings quickly on board and that the route plan is consistent according to everyone's level and the weather.

Your style of practice?

I like it when there is no unnecessary pressure. I make the boat move easily, and especially that the crew has fun!
