The skipper

From the port of Lorient, depending on weather conditions, Jean will take you to the isles of Belle-Ile, Ouessant, Glénan Islands and Ile de Sein!

What is your motto ?

Life is short. Savour every second that passes!

How did you come to do this job?

I'm from Brittany and ever since I was young, I have always loved sailing and for a long time I was a sailing instructor on dinghies. Then I started going on cruises, participating in regattas and even entered the French championships. I started my career as a photographer, cameraman and TV producer and finally created my own production company. All that took years. Then I finally let it drop, passed my sailing diploma and decided to turn my passion into my profession. I have run my own cruise business for five years now. I love sharing my region and favourite haunts.

What people say about you?

Generally people say I'm a good skipper, and that have had a great time!

To know about you, apart from your job?

Life on a journey

Your best memory ?

My best memory was in Vigo in Spain, sailing into the bay by night with a holiday crew. At first there was no light at all, then as we drew closer all the lights of the bay flickered before us amid calm and beauty. It was an incredible moment.

For you, what is a successful sea trip?

For me a successful cruise is when everybody has a fantastic time, with no hitches. Fortunately on a sailing holiday, this is mostly the case.

Your style of practice?
