Meet Laurent, our professional skipper based in the Basque country. Set sail from Hendaye and bask in the spectacular Basque landscape. What is your motto ?

Seek the truth. Your own and that of others. Don't make do with preconceptions.

How did you come to do this job?

When I was a child I sailed with my parents, then with my friends when I was a student. As a young man I started sailing across to Ireland and exploring its coastline, then I because an instructor at UCPA Croisière. In 2011 I decided to change career and make sailing my mainstay – the best choice I could have ever made. Now I have my own business and organise cruise-trips in the Basque country.

Life on a journey

Your best memory ?

Sliding silently into a spectacular bay with a gentle breeze and beautiful seascape.

For you, what is a successful sea trip?

A cruise where sailing becomes an emotion (which doesn't mean fairground sensations) and when crew members get along well.

Your style of practice?

Je veux que le bateau soit accessible à  tous et donner à chacun son plaisir d'être en mer, du néophyte au navigateur expérimenté. Le Grand Surprise est un beau bateau, polyvalent, on arrive à  combiner pas mal de choses avec ce navire.
