The skipper

Meet Vincent, a skipper in the Caribbean. Vincent has been sailing there for over 15 years. Whether in the Grenadines (in the south of the Caribbean), in the Virgin Islands (north of the Caribbean) or in Antigua and Barbuda, Vincent will help you discover the islands that he is particularly fond of. So whether there are two of you or with family or friends, why not have a go!

What is your motto ?

Freedom

How did you come to do this job?

At the age of 22-23, I had the opportunity to make a great journey in the desert by car. The amount of space, immensity and calm overwhelmed me. I then imagined I could have such feelings as those at sea. From then on, this moment has always remained with me. I then started working in a cruise school and then I did many regattas in Port Camargue. I then passed my Sail Yachting diploma and bought a sailboat. In 2000, with my wife, we went to settle in the tropics and since then I have not left this region! I'll bring you on board so can you visit these heavenly islands aboard my sailboat, the Sun Odyssey 49.

What people say about you?

They often say that I am rigorous and forward, but for sailing I must confess that I always pay attention to safety. As far as my personality is concerned, they say that I am very nice and fortunately because it is very important in a boat! What makes me happy is that we often create real links, many of my clients come back and some have really become true friends. In 2007, I did a motorcycle trip of 7000 km from Belgium to the south, and on this occasion I was able to see many of my former clients, which made me very happy!

Life on a journey

Your best memory ?

My first trans-Atlantic race! Maybe it's silly to say, but I think it has he same effect as one's first love, an incredible discovery!

For you, what is a successful sea trip?

A successful cruise is when my passengers come back sailing with me to visit other islands.

Your style of practice?

Actually I picture myself like my clients' holidays. But we know that these moments are unfortunately too rare and too short. So I do everything I can to make them happy and have a great holiday. They participate in the sailing process or can have a rest, it is up to them, as long as they enjoy their time on board.
