Your cruise
Set sail from Longyearbyen on a 14-day sailing expedition cruise to the heart of Svalbard. Amid wild fjords, glaciers, and Arctic mountains, discover the archipelago on an itinerary tailored to weather conditions and ice conditions.
Suitable for motivated beginners, this hands-on adventure takes place in a small group. You’ll have the opportunity to help with ship maneuvers and, if you wish, take watch duty, all while enjoying secluded anchorages and the wildlife you encounter along the way.
Your possible stops during this cruise
Here is a sample itinerary for your 14-day sailing expedition cruise to Svalbard.
This itinerary is provided for informational purposes only and will be adjusted based on weather conditions, safety requirements, and the skipper’s recommendations.
Departure from Longyearbyen and sailing through Isfjorden.
After boarding starting at 4:00 p.m., you’ll settle in on board and attend a briefing on safety and navigation in the polar environment. From Longyearbyen, you’ll explore Isfjorden, surrounded by mountains, remote anchorages, and glacier fronts.
Kongsfjorden and Ny-Ålesund.
Depending on conditions, you may sail to Kongsfjorden and Ny-Ålesund. This part of the trip will offer the chance to observe glacial landscapes and discover the history and environment of Spitsbergen.
Prins Karls Forland.
The expedition may also reach the vicinity of Prins Karls Forland and sail along its wild coastline. As you sail, you may spot seabirds, seals, walruses, or other Arctic animals—always from a distance and without disturbing them.
Exploring the fjords of Spitsbergen.
The voyage may continue to more remote fjords, selected based on weather and ice conditions. When conditions permit, zodiac landings and hikes may be arranged to explore the Arctic landscapes from land.
A participatory expedition.
Throughout the trip, everyone is invited to participate in ship maneuvers, navigation, and life on board. Depending on your experience and interests, you may also help plan the itinerary and learn the basics of high-latitude navigation.
Return to Longyearbyen.
The return route will be adapted to prevailing conditions to allow for a gradual return to Longyearbyen. Disembarkation is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on the last day.
