Your cruise
Take your sailing to the next level during a week of competitive yet fun sailing on a First Class 8, departing from Port des Minimes in La Rochelle. Unlike a traditional cruise, this isn’t a coastal sailing trip where you sleep on board: you’ll sail during the day on a one-design sport boat, and you’ll be housed and fed ashore on a full-board basis, just a short walk from the docks. You’ll recover on dry land, fully focused on your progress.
The First Class 8 is an 8-meter sport keelboat—lively and responsive—designed for competitive crewed sailing. It immediately reflects the quality of your adjustments: the ideal platform for gaining a practical understanding of what you’re doing on the boat and enjoying the thrill of making it move forward. Instruction is provided by a state-certified instructor, in small groups of no more than 5 per boat, ensuring truly personalized attention.
Your possible stops during this cruise
Itinerary for your 5-day sailing camp in La Rochelle:
*This itinerary is for reference only and may be adjusted depending on weather conditions.
The week’s schedule:
• Sunday: Arrival in the late afternoon starting at 4:00 PM, settling in, dinner, and briefing.
• Monday: introduction, getting to know the boat, getting started (first few tacks).
• Tuesday: sailing techniques and sail adjustments; maneuvers (tacking, gybing, crew coordination).
• Wednesday: theory (weather, tides, reading the water); half-day rest.
• Thursday: speed optimization; tactics and reading the water.
• Friday: sailing strategy; putting theory into practice on a full timed course, in a friendly and competitive spirit.
• Saturday: breakfast and departure.
• Debriefing after each sailing session.
Depending on sailing conditions and the participants’ skill levels, you’ll sail toward Île de Ré, Fort Boyard, and Île d’Oléron throughout your course.
We set out from Port des Minimes, enjoy the sheltered waters of the Pertuis Charentais… and in the evening, we return to dry land. Comfort is on land; the thrills are on the water.
