Your cruise
An unforgettable journey through a still relatively unspoilt part of the world, in the footsteps of the greatest polar adventurers. The sailboat provides access to sites where cruise ships cannot pass and offers a unique approach to wildlife in a very small group. The Antarctic Peninsula has the highest number of species that have come to breed in these extreme areas.
Your possible stops during this cruise
The programme below is given as an indication and may be modified by the skipper according to the weather and the condition of the ice pack
Day 1: Your skipper picks you up at the airport in Ushuaia and then you will board
Day 2: Departure from Ushuaia to Puerto Williams, on Navarino Island. This is the southernmost city in the world. You will arrive there in the afternoon
Day 3: Let's go, Antarctica direction! Depending on the weather conditions, you will start the descent to round Cape Horn and enter the Drake Passage
Days 4 to 15: It takes about three days to reach the southern lands. Welcome to the great South. You will meet the petrels and albatrosses, who are the local inhabitants. You should be able to reach the former whaling station on Deception Island on the 6th day (depending on weather conditions). Penguins and sea lions occupy the beach, not caring about visitors. For those who wish, it is possible to walk to the ridge which offers a breathtaking view of the Southern Shetland. Don't forget your bathing suits! And yes, the waters are heated by volcanic activity, all you have to do is dig a hole
You will stay 2 days on site, then leave Deception for Enterprise Island 80 miles away. You will find an old whaler stranded in the bay.
The adventure continues through the waters dotted with growlers from the Neumayer Canal to Dorian Cove. You will find a magnificent view of Mount Frances, on the island of Antwerp, the highest point on the peninsula. A few miles away, on the other side of a rocky point, is Port Lockroy on Wiencke Island. It is an obligatory stopover for any visit to the peninsula. The English have a museum here with a post office from which it is possible to send postcards and a small souvenir shop. Around the buildings lives an imposing colony of Papuan penguins. A little further away lies a whale skeleton
Via the Bismark Strait, we reach Palmer station, the American research station, on the island of Antwerp. It is possible to visit it by appointment. You will then reach Petermann Island in the Penola Strait. It was used as a refuge by Commander Charcot. In Port Circumcision as in Port Charcot, you can observe the remains left by his two expeditions
A little further south, you will reach the Argentinean islands. We will then have to consider starting the ascent to the North via Paradise Bay. Surrounded by gigantic glaciers from which huge pieces of ice sometimes break away. Whales will be your travelling companions
Days 16 to 19: It's time to leave the ice pack and tackle 3 or 4 days at sea to reach Cape Horn. After this potentially rough crossing, you will find refuge again in Puerto Williams
Day 20: Return to Ushuaia and civilization
Day 21: It's time to disembark.

There is an international airport in Ushuaia. It is strongly recommended to arrive in Ushuaia the day before the expedition's departure and to plan a return flight a few days after your expedition. The best way is to plan an "open" flight ticket in case of delay on the planned program.
