Set sail from Ilulissat

more than 300 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle, this Greenland cruise explores Disko Bay, with its active glaciers, monumental icebergs, wild fjords and Arctic villages.
The itinerary takes in Ilulissat, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, famous for its icy fjord where icebergs drift from the Sermeq Kujalleq glacier. Between sailing, isolated anchorages, whale watching and tundra hiking, this voyage offers a rare immersion in the powerful landscapes of the High Arctic.

Here's your itinerary for your Greenland cruise, discovering Disko Bay, Ilulissat, the icy fjords and the great Arctic landscapes.
This itinerary is given as an indication only and may be modified according to weather conditions, ice conditions, wind and navigation requirements. The program will be adapted to ensure safety, the best sailing conditions and the best observation opportunities.

Day 1 - Boarding at Ilulissat.
Boarding at Ilulissat, on the west coast of Greenland. Embarkation times are subject to change depending on flight schedules. Installation on board, introduction to the boat, crew and life on board.
Depending on arrival time and conditions, first discovery of the Arctic atmosphere of Ilulissat, the emblematic town on Disko Bay.

Day 2 - Ilulissat and the UNESCO ice fjord.
Discover Ilulissat and its spectacular Ice Fjord, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This exceptional site is famous for its immense icebergs, formed by the Sermeq Kujalleq glacier, one of the most active in Greenland.
You can walk ashore to viewpoints on the fjord, observe the ice and appreciate the power of these polar landscapes.

Day 3 - Sailing in Disko Bay.
Start sailing in Disko Bay, between icebergs, wild coastlines and wide-open Arctic spaces. This area is ideal for whale watching, especially when sailing between the different sectors of the bay.
Depending on ice and wind conditions, progress to the fjords to the north and east of the bay.

Day 4 - Oqaatsut and Arctic anchorages.
Sail to Oqaatsut, a small village north of Ilulissat. This stopover gives you an insight into local Greenlandic life in an isolated environment, between sea, tundra and icebergs.
Possibility of anchoring in the wild and hiking ashore, depending on conditions.

Day 5 - Towards the great glaciers of the east coast.
Progress through the fjords as deep as the ice allows, to get close to the great glacier fronts of the region.
The aim is to reach the Eqip Sermia sector, one of the most spectacular glaciers in Disko Bay. Navigation alternates between ice observation, mineral landscapes and the search for Arctic wildlife.

Day 6 - Eqip Sermia and Anse de Quervain.
Day dedicated to the Eqip Sermia and Anse de Quervain area, a place linked to Paul-Émile Victor's expeditions.
Depending on conditions, you can sail as close as possible to the accessible glacial landscapes, observe the ice front and anchor in a wild environment. This area is one of the highlights of the cruise.

Day 7 - Kangilerngata Sermia and northern fjords.
Continued exploration of the northern fjords of Disko Bay, with the possibility of approaching Kangilerngata Sermia.
Sailing takes place against a backdrop of glaciers, icebergs and Arctic relief. on land, depending on opportunities, hikes can offer vast panoramas of fjords and glacier fronts.

Day 8 - Crossing to Disko Island.
Sail west out of the bay towards Disko Island. This large basalt island offers a marked contrast to the glacial landscapes of the east coast: dark relief, tundra, cliffs and vast vistas across the bay.
Whales, seabirds and drifting icebergs can be spotted on the crossing.

Day 9 - Qeqertarsuaq, Valley of the Winds and Lyngmark Glacier.
Stopover at Qeqertarsuaq on Disko Island. Depending on the weather, you can hike to the Valley of the Winds and the edge of the Lyngmarksbræen glacier.
This is a day to discover one of the bay's most contrasting landscapes: tundra, volcanic landforms, sea views and high Arctic ambience.

Day 10 - Southern Disko Bay and return to Ilulissat.
Sailing in southern Disko Bay, with the possibility of a stopover in Qasigiannguit, depending on conditions and sailing pace.
This last long day allows you to continue discovering Greenlandic villages, coastal landscapes and wildlife observation areas, before the gradual return to Ilulissat.

Day 11 - Disembarkation in Ilulissat.
