Set sail on a day-long sailing adventure departing from Arcachon and discover the joy of sailing on the Bassin. Aboard a racing-cruising sailboat, you’ll enjoy an accessible and comfortable outing designed to introduce you to the basics of sailing.
Accompanied by a professional skipper, you’ll take an active part in sailing throughout the day: steering the boat, trimming the sails, performing maneuvers, and reading the water conditions. Depending on weather conditions and tides, the outing lets you explore the Arcachon Basin at the wind’s pace, combining learning, relaxation, and discovery of the natural surroundings.
Note: For private charters, the course lasts 7 hours, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Here is a sample itinerary for your one-day introductory sailing trip departing from Arcachon.
The itinerary and pace of the sail will be adjusted based on weather conditions, tides, and the skipper’s decisions.
Meet at the Arcachon marina.
Meet at the Arcachon marina at 10 a.m. to meet the skipper and board the boat. Before departure, there will be a briefing to introduce the sailboat, review safety guidelines, and outline the day’s schedule.
Sailing on the Arcachon Basin.
You’ll leave the harbor for a 6-hour sail on the Arcachon Basin. Carried by the wind, you’ll discover the joy of sailing on a comfortable sailboat, surrounded by the natural beauty of sandbars, oyster-farming villages, and the Arcachon Basin’s iconic landscapes.
Introduction to Sailing.
Throughout the day, you’ll take part in sailing with guidance from the skipper: steering the boat, observing and adjusting the sails, tacking, jibing, and reading the water. The goal is to learn the basics of sailing in an accessible and supervised environment.
Exploring the Bassin’s Surroundings.
Depending on the day’s conditions, the sail may allow you to catch a glimpse of or get close to various areas of the Bassin, such as Île aux Oiseaux, Cap Ferret, Banc d’Arguin, Banc du Toulinguet, or the oyster-farming villages.
Break during the day.
A break may be scheduled during the outing, depending on conditions and the plan agreed upon with the skipper. Participants should bring their own picnic lunch.
Return to the port of Arcachon.
Return to the port of Arcachon at the end of the day, after a final sail on the Bassin.

Meet at the Arcachon harbor, Quai Goslar, at the visitor dock near the harbor master’s office and the gas station. The Arcachon train station is about a 25-minute walk from the harbor.
