Your cruise
The skipper welcomes you aboard his sailboat for a 7-day sailing course departing from Bandol. The aim is to help students become self-sufficient, so that they can sail a sailboat on their own. Most of our courses are introductory courses for beginners or near-beginners ;) If you'd like an advanced course, please refer to our specific offer: CLICK HERE.
Your possible stops during this cruise
Here is your program for your 7-day sailing course departing from Bandol.
This program is given as an indication and may be adapted according to weather conditions, sea state and crew level.
The skipper will welcome you aboard his sailboat in Bandol harbor on Saturday morning at 9 a.m., to start a week of sailing and learning at sea. Aimed primarily at beginners or near-beginners, this course will introduce you to cruising, maneuvers and life with a crew, with support adapted to your progress.
Departing from Bandol, you can sail towards the calanques, following the coastal scenery to Cassis, Port-Miou, Port-Pin or En-Vau. Depending on conditions, the route can also take in Marseille and the Frioul archipelago, before heading for the Hyères islands. Porquerolles and Port-Cros are among the possible stopovers and anchorages during this week at sea.
Between coastal sailing, anchorages and stopovers, you'll discover different sailing environments: the relief of the calanques, the islands and sheltered bays of the Var coastline. The course is defined by the skipper as the course progresses, to ensure that safety, sailing conditions and the crew's learning curve are all taken into account.
Throughout the course, you'll learn to feel how the boat reacts to the wind and sails, to take part in maneuvers and to gradually get used to the boat.
Depending on your level, you'll be expected to :
- Prepare the boat for departures and arrivals, both under sail and motor.
- Understand the action of the wind on the sails and steer at different points of sail.
- Trim sails and participate in tack changes.
- Move safely during maneuvers.
- Slow down, speed up and maneuver the boat.
- Discover the main information on a nautical chart and better understand navigation conditions.
Safety on board and awareness of the marine environment are also an integral part of the course.
You'll be back in Bandol harbor by 6 p.m. on Friday.
If cabins are occupied, the skipper sleeps in the middle
The skipper helps you to cook but everybody is participating
