Your possible stops during this cruise

Depending on weather conditions, the program and itinerary may be subject to change. The itinerary below is an example.

This is a varied cruise combining coastal sailing along the Breton and Cornish coasts, and offshore sailing across the English Channel.you'll discover the lifestyle of ocean-going sailors, with watchkeeping and night sailing.

Variety will be the order of the day throughout the cruise, starting with the Bay of Saint-Malo, a bay dotted with rocks and complex markers, and one of the highest tides in Europe.then the wild and rugged landscape of the Emeraude and Goëlo coasts, where we'll be able to tie up before a probable stopover on the Ile de Bréhat to rest and wait for the right tide before the highlight of this cruise in terms of navigation:crossing the English Channel.

Life on board will be punctuated by watches, keeping a close eye on the flow of commercial and fishing vessels, night sailing, and landing on the other side of the Channel in the morning.along the Brittany coast of Cornwall, we'll resume our coastal navigation and cruise from river to river, each more beautiful than the last, with its own special atmosphere.

The goal of this cruise, the Scilly Isles, will be reached after rounding 2 famous capes: Cape Lizard, which, along with Ushant, marks the start and finish lines of the Jules Verne Trophy record attempts, and Land's End, the westernmost tip of Great Britain, the end of the world. It's not uncommon in these waters to come across marine life such as dolphins, and sometimes basking sharks or sunfish...
The Isles of Scilly are located 30 miles off Land's End, bathed by the warm waters of the Gulf Stream, and enjoy a mild climate and plenty of sunshine. The main attractions are the charm of the islands and anchorages, a visit to the renowned subtropical botanical garden at Tresco Abbey, seal watching at Western Rocks, and the unmissable pubs.

Then it's back across the Channel to the coast of Brittany, where we'll sail all the way to Saint-Malo. The West Channel's unique geography makes this cruise ideal for those wishing to experience all the facets of sailboat cruising.

The cruise

Our cruise was perfect! Jean-Luc knows the area perfectly and allowed us to sail and stop over in many beautiful places. The landscapes, the harbors, the anchorages are sublime and totally fulfilled our desire to discover the English coasts on the Cornwall side and the Channel Islands. Because of the unfavorable wind, we were not able to go to the Scilly Islands, but this was quickly forgotten because we stopped in other beautiful places. Life on board is very well organized, we learned a lot about sailing and we had a great time! Our teammates were very friendly and the atmosphere on board was excellent!

The skipper

Jean Luc organized perfectly the life on board and was a good instructor. He is very serious and we always felt safe and well accompanied during the whole cruise. Thank you again!

Best memories

The breathtaking anchorages in the Channel Islands (Serq, Jersey ...), the sublime typical harbors of Falmouth and Fowey with a guaranteed English atmosphere, the crossing of the Channel at night with dolphins, dolphins (we saw so many of them, magic!) and the majestic gannets flying low or hunting fish around us. And finally, my teammates and their innumerable attempts of fishing which led to good laughs (we were able to dine 5 mackerels following their patience).

The cruise

Beautiful cruise. We were spoiled by the weather, allowing us to sail every day, after 2 days of sailing along the Breton coasts (stops in Bréhat and Roscoff) we crossed the Channel in 22 hours accompanied by the dolphins to arrive at the Scilly Islands, discovering a superb setting, islands everywhere. Anchorage at St Mary's, stroll on the island, pubbing, delicious fisch and chips, the next day sailing around Western Rocks: seals, birds everywhere (Guillemots, Penguins Torda, Cormorants, Puffins,...), we didn't know where to give a head. Then anchorage at St Agnès. Stroll in the island with tasting of delicious artisanal ice creams the next day: Tresco. Big island with an extraordinary sub-tropical garden, the weather being favourable for a crossing to English Cornwall we had to leave the Scilly with regret. But to discover very nice anchorages and villages. We had the chance to finish this cruise by crossing the Channel in 2 days with a stopover in Guernsey, in short, a great trip, combining navigation and discovering magnificent cities and villages, which also allowed us to consolidate our knowledge and learn new things about the navigation and manoeuvres of a boat under the wise advice and explanations of Jean-Luc. We sailed at all speeds and with all sails (genoa, staysail, spinnaker, reefing). A good training, even if with 2 passengers we felt a little "light" for such a big boat, thanks to Jean-Luc for his advice, his choice of anchorages and navigation as well as for his good meals.
