Day 2 to 12 - Sailing between Ireland and Scotland
We sail around the Conemarra in 3 days, pausing at various anchorages: the Aran Islands, Inishbofin, Inishkea - names that smell of the sea and wild anchorages.
We then round County Mayo to Killybegs, a large fishing port nestling in the heart of beautiful cliffs.
We then round Donegal and anchor behind Aranmore, a small island further north in Donegal. Then on to Tory, a friendly, artistic island renowned for its paintings, or lough Swilly, a lough defended by its tidal currents but perfectly sheltered.
We then cross over into Scotland, arriving on the island of Islay at the end of the day. On the island, we recommend visits to the distilleries near Port Ellen - they're fascinating! 3 renowned distilleries in less than 10 km, for an unforgettable stroll through malt country.
We then sail up the Sound of Islay to an anchorage in the hollow of the Isle of Jura, known as the land of deer and mountains, one of the wildest places in Scotland!
We finish the sailboat cruise on the Firth of Lorn, a Scottish inlet leading us to Oban, a small port in the shelter of Kerrera Island.
